You must physically be able to sit across from me at my studio here in Portland, OR.

I paint typically one live session portrait a week at maximum, Though will make adjustments if a couple would like to book paint sessions close together or you are traveling to be painted by me.

I try and keep my portrait sessions on Thursdays with a 9am start time.

A portrait session typically takes between 5-7 Hours. we take breaks to stretch and move around throughout, as well as an hour long break for lunch outside of the studio.

I will not paint a couples in the same composition. these portraits are painted in conversation so having you next to each other across from me creates way too much movement. on top of that, painting one person takes me 5+ hours so the thought of doubling that in a day while multiplying the amount of movement is not something I’m willing to do. I attempted it a few times painting people in cafes and always felt the compositions fell flat.

however,

I offer people the option of having a loved one/ significant other at their session with them. As to create a shared memory, I will have you sit across from each other and be the focal point for the person being painted. If you both want painted, I am happy to make a set of portraits that are complimentary to each other, but this will be 2 separate portrait sessions scheduled on different days.

This approach can also be applied, say, if you wanted to have your father or grand mother painted. I would love to have you both at the session, creating a shared memory of physically spending time together. You being their focal point, not only being a rendering of your loved one but being a memory of physical time spent together with them.

Once I get to 95% of the way complete, I will photograph you in the studio, we will stop for the day and I will keep the painting hanging on the wall of my studio for around a month. I do this so I can ensure that I don’t overwork the painting. I like to spend time with it with fresh eyes and some space from the live session. I'll finalize things, maybe tweak a detail or 2 based off the photo reference I snapped while in the studio.

There will be no refunds regardless of outcome with an understanding that this is a painting of you from live observation, as I see you, in conversation. It will be painted to the best of my ability, with my full attention, and in my style.

The cost of this Experience is 800$. If said cost is prohibitive and you still feel very called to sit with me, please fill out the form and we can talk, im happy to work out a payment plan for you or offer a sliding scale depending on both of our financial situations at the time. Capitalism is a prison.

****I do not paint Portraits from Photograph unless it is a memorial for someone who is deceased, feel free to send me a message for an inquiry.****

I tend to book Portrait work 3 months out at a time, so when it comes time for me to fill my calendar for the quarter, I’ll reach out to whoever is on this list.
